Women In Defense (WID), A National Security Organization, an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association, was incorporated in 1985.  The mission of WID is to cultivate and support the advancement and recognition of women in all aspects of national security.  WID, a non-profit organization, was established to provide women with a formal environment for professional growth through networking, education, and career development.  Women In Defense Central Florida Chapter (WID CFL) is proud to be the fourteenth sanctioned chapter in the United States and is among the fastest growing and newest chapters.  The region represented by WID CFL encompasses the entire state of Florida.

Our membership is comprised of diverse demographics represented by women and men throughout Florida from a significant cross-section of national security professions to include industry, Government, military, and academia.  WID is dedicated to providing a network for professional development opportunities, sharing of experiences and expanding contacts for women in all aspects of national security.  WID CFL is at the forefront of establishing regular general membership meetings and networking opportunities.

In addition, WID CFL plans to award scholarships for education in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through contributions from corporations, individuals, and fundraising activities.  Our focus remains on the national security and educational interests of our members, our region, and our country.
